Applied Mathematics - Structured
Course Overview
All PhD students in the College of Science will enrol in a Structured PhD.
The research activity of the discipline covers a range of topics in both Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. These include solid mechanics and elasticity, numerical methods, quantum computation, conformal field theory, materials modelling, and mathematical biology. Members of the discipline are involved in joint projects with other research units within the University, such as the Stokes Cluster for Applied Mathematics or the Biomechanics Research Centre.
Entry requirements
To be eligible to enter on a programme of study and research for the degree of PhD you must have reached a high honours standard at the examination for the primary degree or presented such evidence as will satisfy the Head of School and the College of your fitness.
Application dates
Applications are made online via the NUI Galway Postgraduate Applications System.
