Business Analytics

This Master's programme is delivered at our dedicated Graduate Business School campus, UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School, located in Blackrock, 4km from the main UCD Belfield Campus.



Business Analytics provides a set of analytical methods for solving problems and aiding decision-making, particularly in the context of large quantities of data. It involves the development and application of models and concepts to explore management issues and solve managerial problems. It includes Data Science, Management Science and Operational Research.



The MSc in Business Analytics is positioned to foster expertise at the very leading edge of quantitative analysis, sophisticated decision-making and advanced machine learning. Students are immersed in the latest management science, embracing statistics, operational research and analytics through powerful mathematical, computational and data-oriented modelling. Our MSc in Business Analytics is currently ranked 35th in the QS Masters in Business Analytics Global Ranking.

Entry requirements

A minimum second class honours primary degree (or equivalent) which includes quantitative techniques, including Engineering, Computer Science and other Sciences. Applicants with a Business studies background need to have taken MIS-Management Information Systems subjects, Maths or other quantitative courses.

AND

A student may be asked to undertake the GMAT or GRE at the Director's discretion.



You may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), as UCD recognises formal, informal, and/or experiential learning. Assessment Info

You will be assessed by examination and continuous assessment, including individual and group assessments, presentations, reading assignments, and computer programming. Exams take place at the end of semesters 1 and 2.


In the summer term, the project (either dissertation or practicum) involves full-time work on a real analytics problem, generally with an Irish company. It is generally mathematically complex with a computer-programming element.
