Leadership, Management & Innovation for Social Care
Course Overview
This is a two-year part-time MA in Leadership, Management and Innovation for Social Care, which has been developed in consultation with industry representatives across the social care sector, to support the development of leadership, management and innovation skills by experienced, or aspiring, social care managers.
Participants will take all modules on the programme such as Leadership and People Management for Social Care, Management and Change for Social Care, Innovation for Social Care and Contemporary Issues in Professional Supervision for Social Care, amongst others. They will then build on their expertise in this field by completing a Research Project in their chosen area of specialism.
Please note: This programme is not listed on the Social Care Workers' Registration Board's Approved Qualifications Bye-Law and is not an entry route to register as a Social Care Worker.

Entry requirements
Standard Entry Requirements
- Candidates must hold a Level 8 Honours Degree within Social Care or associated discipline, such as, but not limited to, social work, youth work, counselling, social science, arts and humanities. The award must be at Honours 2.2. level or above.
- The equivalent of the above, as determined by international comparisons and/or Institute Policy.
- Applicants must be in employment or have previously worked in a social care setting.
- Applicants may be interviewed prior to the offer of a place.
Non-Standard Entry Requirements (Recognition of Prior Learning)
Applicants who do not meet the standard entry requirements may apply for entry to the programme in accordance with the procedures outlined in the DkIT Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy.
Due to the blended learning delivery within this course, students should have access to a PC / Mac, a headset with a mic, and a broadband internet connection from home, so as to be able to fully participate in the course.

Career Opportunities
Graduates of this programme will be able to develop career pathways in leadership and management roles across a variety of social care, and comparable settings, in both statutory Social Care Manager, Deputy Manager or PIC across a variety of social care settings.
Education Progression
Graduates may progress to further MA or PhD/Doctoral Level studies either via DkIT or elsewhere in the university or technological university sector.
