Nursing - Professional Nursing - Waterford

Overview

This Postgraduate Diploma is a National programme and is fully approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). It is for NMBI registered, experienced nurses who hold a level 8 qualification or equivalent and wish to develop their knowledge, skills and competencies at NFQ Level 9. Its aim is to provide an accessible, innovative, flexible and practice orientated sustainable educational experience that will attract and retain nurses who will work within an integrated health service.

Stage 1 Semester 1:

Fundamentals of Professional Practice

Leadership & Clinical Decision Making for Advanced Practice



Stage 1 Semester 2:

Research Methods for EBP

Advanced Practice in Person Centered Integrated Care



Stage 2 Semester 1:

Quality & Innovation



Elective Module - Advanced Comprehensive Health Assessment OR Transforming Practice through Reflection

Entry requirements

To be eligible for this programme applicants must:

- Be a registered Nurse with NMBI

- Be currently employed in health care provision

- Hold a level 8 qualification



*Applicants who do not have a level 8 qualification may apply for entry to the programme in accordance with the procedures outlined in the SETU Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) policy.



Due to the blended learning delivery within this course students should have access to a PC / Mac, a headset with a mic, and a broadband internet connection from home, to be able to fully participate in the course.



Basic IT skills are essential to complete this programme.



Applicants may be interviewed.

Duration

18 months part-time blended delivery.



Delivery

- The blended programme is delivered on a part time basis over 1.5 academic years

- 1 contact day per week:

- Online approx. 9 days per semester

- Onsite approx. 3 days per semester

- Graduates will develop an advanced level of theoretical knowledge and innovative practice at a higher level of capability to work as independent, autonomous and expert nurses

- Students may progress to the MSc in Professional Nursing Practice
