Job Description & Summary

Why PwC?

When you join PwC, you’ll bring your own ideas and insights to some of the world’s top brands. You’ll help them succeed in new ways. You’ll learn from the best in the business. And you’ll discover what a graduate programme can really do for you.

We know that moving from university to the working world can be both exciting and challenging. That’s why we’re here to support you every step of the way as you start your career with us. Our graduate programme offers formal training and mentoring, as well as practical experience on the job. As you grow and learn, you’ll be rewarded with grade and salary progression. You'll receive a competitive salary along with exam fees and exam support, recognition and other great perks as part of your total compensation package.

We’re looking for people like you who bring diverse life skills and new perspectives to PwC. We want fast starters, creative problem-solvers, and process experts to join our team.

Some of the benefits you can expect from a PwC graduate programme:

  • Flexibility that lets you work in different ways and places, such as hybrid and flexible work options through our “Together Anywhere” policy which allows you to work abroad for a certain number of days. We offer hybrid working, but we ask that our people come together at least three days per week.
  • A competitive compensation package that not only rewards your impact but gives you the option to choose benefits that are important to you and your lifestyle.
  • Benefits that support your wellbeing, such as employee assistance program, onsite and virtual gym.
  • Secondment opportunities where you can gain valuable international experience and learn from different cultures and markets.
  • Inclusion and Diversity Initiatives and the opportunity to be part of our I&D Pillar Groups to make a true impact in building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • A dedicated Learning and Development team who deliver an evolving training framework. It’s our goal to continuously develop our employees' technical and professional skills.

We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, to perform essential job functions, and to receive other benefits and privileges of employment. What to expect from Foreign Direct Investment tax role?

As a graduate, you will join the FDI Accounting team, which sits under the wider FDI tax group.

You will be responsible for assisting your team members by getting involved in client compliance cycles, preparing statutory and management accounts, and researching technical accounting issues as you develop your knowledge. You will liaise with our tax colleagues to ensure we demonstrate synergies to clients as both service teams deliver accounting and corporate tax services. You will learn about the finance operations of a business and interact with external auditors and clients, with opportunities for client secondments as you build your finance knowledge. You will be part of a team that has a busy compliance season but benefits from not having to do excessive overtime. We work with a range of start-ups, private companies, and global corporations, including many of Ireland’s top 100 companies. Our work helps them solve their problems and provides confidence in their strategies.

Specific Areas of Responsibility:

  • Conduct research to gain an in-depth understanding of clients’ industries and businesses.
  • Develop technical accounting and company law knowledge, demonstrating the ability to research issues, consider alternatives, and draw conclusions.
  • Collaborate with senior team members to complete work, showing flexibility within the work plan when necessary.
  • Continuously communicate with management regarding engagement progress, risks, and issues.
  • Assist in drafting complete financial statements and related notes, as well as initial drafts of reports to clients.

Who are we looking for?

  • You are curious and eager to learn and grow
  • You have a strong academic record and good analytical and problem solving skills (minimum 2.1 degree or equivalent)
  • You love a challenge and want to help our clients grow and overcome their issues.
  • Your values and purpose align with ours. At PwC we believe it is our obligation- and our opportunity - to take the lead and work together for a better tomorrow.
  • You are a self-starter, an excellent communicator, and a team player.
  • You prioritise inclusion and embrace diverse perspectives, using your skills and knowledge to make a positive impact in our world.
