My role is HVAC Designer : An HVAC design role is essential for creating comfortable and efficient indoor environments. It combines technical expertise , creativity, and collaboration to design systems that meet the diverse needs of modern buildings. This career offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and continuously learn and adapt to new challenges and technologies.

What aspects of your role do you enjoy most?

My role in HVAC design offers a blend of technical challenges, creative problem-solving, and collaborative teamwork that makes it both fulfilling and engaging. The continuous evolution of the field and the direct impact on comfort and sustainability keep me motivated and passionate about my work

What support have you had to succeed in your role?

My manger and team members continually encourage me and refines my abilities, incorporating feedback to improve my performance. Team members who interact with me helps me in different stage of my project and always available to give support

I enjoy the ability of Arcadis making information available to facility student for their career and have professional growth.

How would you best summarise your role at Arcadis?

In my role as a Intern for Arcadis I am currently learning the basics of what happens within any project in industry and I am also offering help that I can give to my colleagues to aid them in their work in anyway while trying to learn as much as possible during this process.

What aspects of your role do you enjoy most?

The aspects of the role that I enjoy the most are being able to constantly work in a team environment. This part of the job is enjoyable as you can always learn new information through communicating with people that you work with on a project and this is going to constantly help you expand your knowledge of the industry.

What skills or behaviours do you think you need to be successful in role?

Some of the main skills that you need to be able to be successful in my role is to be able to work within a team as you will be constantly working with a group of people on a project. You need to be able to be good at communicating while also being a keen listener to ensure that everyone's opinion is heard within your team that is working on the project that you have been assigned.

What support have you had to succeed in your role?

To succeed in my role I constantly have support from the colleagues around me within the work space and I also have a series of training tutorials that have been supplied by Arcadis that have guided me and taught me new skills throughout my experience with Arcadis.

What do you enjoy most about Arcadis?

The thing that I enjoy the most about Arcadis is how they treat their employees with a high degree of respect and also their people-first culture. Arcadis encourage a high standard of work and also encourages employees to achieve as high as a possible and this shows that they really care about their employees.

What would your advice be to someone looking to secure a role with us?

My main bit of advice for someone that would be looking to secure a role within Arcadis is to ensure that you have good team working skills as throughout your role you will be constantly working on projects within a team environment.

How would you best summarise your role at Arcadis?

As a Project Controls Intern working within the Advanced Process Manufacturing Division within Arcadis, I assist senior quantity surveyors to achieve project delivery outcomes such as monetary prudence and contractual adherence. The primary function of my role is ensure projects remain within budget and adhere to the agreed contractual agreements.

What aspects of your role do you enjoy most?

Without sounding cliché, I enjoy every aspect of my role. However I particularly enjoy project cost estimation. When undertaking a cost estimate for a particular project it requires liaising with almost every discipline within the office, providing me with the exposure to better understand the project requirements from an engineering perspective as well as a monetary perspective.

What skills or behaviours do you think you need to be successful in role?

Technical skills are always sought after when searching for a suitable candidate. But in my opinion, I soft skills as well as a risk-tolerant attitude will prove invaluable in the long run. In a client-facing role such as my own, the ability to get your point across to different stakeholders as well as reading the room cannot be understated.

What support have you had to succeed in your role?

The career development structure within Arcadis has taught me much more industry relevant skills than I have learned in the last three years and a half years of university. The 1-to-1 coaching from project control leads provides a method of teaching that is structured to my knowledge base whilst avoiding the risk of unburdening me with too much that I can bear.

Arcadis has an approachable culture which means that I can approach any person within the office for assistance on a given task to which I am always received with time and attention.

What do you enjoy most about Arcadis?

I enjoy the fact the consequences of my work have real life consequences as opposed to engaging in mundane repetitive tasks. The fact that I am a part of something good - an organization whos mission is to improve the quality of life through finding solutions to today's most pressing challenges. The knowledge of this boosts my morale and often reminds me that there is a true meaning behind the work that I do.

Your role has significant real world consequences, please don't think otherwise.

How would you best summarise your role at Arcadis?

Within the pharmaceutical industry there is a constant demand for projects that can range from introducing new product onto site, to replacing an existing piece of equipment. C&Q is an integral part of every project. It entails working alongside and coordinating with various disciplines in creating documentation that satisfies user requirements. Creating and executing the Documentation is crucial in the pharma industry, as it ensures that equipment is commissioned and qualified by following procedure in a step-by-step process. Therefore, when a piece of equipment is handed back to the user, there is a 100% certainty that that piece of equipment will carry out what it is intended to do in a safe manner.

What aspects of your role do you enjoy most?

In my role as a C&Q engineer, I really enjoy coordinating and working with other departments in ensuring the documentation created is accurate to the user requirements considering process, quality and safety. With C&Q it is great to see how a piece of equipment is installed onsite, and having the ability to contribute to the project by creating the documentation and sometimes executing to ensure that the piece of equipment is installed and working correctly.

What skills or behaviours do you think you need to be successful in role?

Being part of the pharmaceutical industry, there are many procedures, and way of doing things on each site, I think it is important to be adaptable and have a willingness to learn. Being able to co-ordinate with other departments and managing deadline, I think it is important to have the skill of developing a working relationship with others, having good communication skills and managing time and projects for priority. Also, with executing protocols, things can turn out not as expected. It is important to be able to deal with setbacks and be able to problem solve and work together to get to a solution.

What support have you had to succeed in your role?

With starting any new role, there is always a period where you’re learning how things are done. I’ve felt with Arcadis, there is a great support network of colleagues who are always there to help.

What do you enjoy most about Arcadis?

I enjoy the working environment in Arcadis. I have a manager that gives freedom to get work done allowing me to take ownership of tasks, by using a personal take. If there are any issues, the manager is always easy to communicate with and is great to help. Also, with Arcadis there is a good social scene for activities that take place during the year.

What would your advice be to someone looking to secure a role with us?

With Arcadis there is a potential to work with many clients across the industry. There is great potential in getting involved in many projects that will contribute to your development, especially if you’re starting as a graduate. If you’re an engineer from any discipline looking to join a design house, Arcadis is a great environment for growth and development.

How would you best summarise your role at Arcadis?

My role is to assist with the range of projects in the process department. Some of my tasks include project co-ordination, document review organization, communication with different departments. The main goal of my role is to assist on key project tasks while gaining industry experience while doing it.

What aspects of your role do you enjoy most?

The main aspects I enjoy is the learning aspect. Its invaluable to gather key engineering experience in this role. I enjoy being able to expand my engineering knowledge through real world examples. The variety of tasks I get to do means that I learn about many different areas

What skills or behaviours do you think you need to be successful in role?

Some of the key skills that i believe are required are diligence, adaptability and being open-minded. Diligence is needed for progression, hard work helps both yourself and the company advance. Being able to adapt to challenges presented to you and adequately deal with these challenges is another key skill. You need to be able adjust to sudden changes. Finally being open-minded about opportunities and events that happen is key. This allows for wide range of ideas and solutions to be considered. Open-mindedness can be key when dealing with new situations.

What support have you had to succeed in your role?

There has been a lot of support from colleagues and management here at Arcadis. This has helped me learn in each task I am given. Colleagues have always been there to answer questions when needed and to point me in the right direction. Management has also been very helpful in providing opportunities to display the skills I have learned while learning new , beneficial skills.

What do you enjoy most about Arcadis?

I enjoy the warm atmosphere here at Arcadis. Everybody is close at Arcadis and the atmosphere is very welcoming. If you have a question, your colleagues will gladly answer it and assist you with any difficulties that you have. The overall atmosphere here is friendly and inviting.

What would your advice be to someone looking to secure a role with us?

I would advise them to show that they are adaptable and that they are willing to learn. Arcadis is a place about learning and continuous improvement. If they show that they are eager to learn and take on new challenges, they will fit right into Arcadis.
