National College of Ireland’s mission is to change lives through education. For the 6,000-strong student body, both undergrad and postgrad, full- and part-time, this mission is realised not just through internationally recognised qualifications delivered by expert faculty - all our courses are accredited by Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) and many bring with them certification or exemptions from professional bodies – but also through a strongly supportive environment. NCI is guided by the Wellness Concept that values a student’s social, physical, psychological and spiritual wellbeing.

Located at the intersection of the IFSC and the Silicon Docks, with its own Luas stop: Mayor Square – NCI, National College of Ireland has strong connections with the businesses surrounding it. With nearly 70 years’ experience of working with employers to identify skills gaps and delivering education and careers service to ambitious students, NCI has a 98% graduate employment rate.

Postgraduate study

Specialising in computing, psychology, accountancy, marketing, business, human resource management, learning and teaching, NCI makes its courses accessible through innovative and flexible delivery mechanisms, including apprenticeships, online and blended learning, as well as classes delivered in the evening and/or at the weekend. Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL) may be used at NCI, to satisfy or partially bridge entry requirements when an applicant may not have the minimum academic qualification for a course, or to permit advanced entry or module exemptions.

At postgraduate level , NCI provides special purpose awards and professional courses, as well as postgraduate diplomas and masters in subjects ranging from well-established areas such as human resources management, marketing, and the highly-prized MBA, to emerging specialisations including cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics and fintech. NCI also facilitates students to continue on to PhD level. Graduates of NCI can avail of discounts and scholarships to continue their studies in the college. In association with the 30% Club, NCI also presents a scholarship to address the under-representation of women in postgraduate STEM education.

Facilities

Our state of the art campus includes purpose-built computer labs, as well as large studio classrooms, seminar rooms and tiered lecture theatres. The same thought and planning went into the large, modern library, which cannot be mentioned without acknowledging the dedication of its professional staff

The main atrium of the campus has an excellent subsidised restaurant, to complement the many eateries in the neighbourhood. The students’ union in the basement of the college is a hive of social activity. The college has its own underground car park, and there are both crèche and gym facilities in the complex. Student accommodation is also provided on campus, with a quad linking the apartments to the main body of the college. There are many clubs and societies at NCI including sports clubs, which have ready access to nearby grounds. The college mascot is Paddy the Panther. There is a great sense of camaraderie in the college.

Research

Research is considered a core activity at the college, spearheaded by the Dean of the School of Business, Dr. Colette Darcy, and the Dean of the School of Computing, Dr. Pramod Pathak, alongside the Director of Research and Innovation in Learning and Teaching, Dr. Leo Casey. The college currently leads and participates in a number of international research projects .

National College of Ireland is home to the Early Learning Initiative (ELI) , which was developed to address the problem of educational underachievement in marginalised communities. ELI builds upon tried and tested models of early years’ intervention to provide world-class parent and child learning support programmes. ELI uses ‘action research’ as its primary research methodology, which allows ELI to continuously evaluate and amend its programmes during the implementation stage. ELI builds strong bonds between the college and the local community, adding another link in the chain that joins academic life at NCI to wider society and industry.
