Clodagh McNamee – Business and Economics, Trinity College Dublin

“I applied to the Davy Graduate Programme because I really liked the idea of rotating across departments and exposing myself to a variety of roles before making a final decision on where I wanted to work long term. The world of finance is so broad that when you come out of college it can be hard to know exactly where you fit best without a lot of previous exposure. Over the course of my two-year programme I worked as an Investment Analyst in the Private Clients department, assisting business owners to manage their portfolios and meet their financial needs, I also worked as a Portfolio Construction Analyst, executing trades for discretionary accounts in line with agreed mandates and finally as an Assistant to a small-to-medium capitalization global equity fund, providing stock ideas and pitching to the wider investment team.

Through my experience on the programme I was able to find the area of finance that I felt most passionate about, which led me to my now full-time position as an Assistant Equity Fund Manager, generating stock ideas and assisting with the daily management of our Global Equity fund alongside the group CIO. The variety of skills I have acquired through each rotation are incredibly diverse and I know that they will stand to me throughout the rest of my career.”
